NATURAN ACTIVITY PROFILE
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Naturan was formed in 1990 as a joint British/Polish venture to formulate, promote and
distribute health and hygiene products in Poland and the other former Comecon countries
including the former Soviet Union and is now a well established Distributor for several
Western companies including Antec, Optivite, Vicam, PAL, NASCO, IDAHO TECH..
Presently employing around 50 people, Naturan is headquartered in Warsaw, with branch
sales offices in 10 separate locations throughout Poland.
During the past 14 years, the company has sold significant quantities of products
to the former Soviet Union and it remains the objective via a fully flexible and cost
effective structure to maximise sales in that direction as well as within Poland.
In Warsaw, Naturan has warehousing facilities and a blending and packaging unit from
which products are distributed within Poland via Naturan's branch offices who hold local
stock.
To back up the localised sales activities, Naturan employs multilingual, scientifically
qualified, staff in Warsaw; the wide number of countries being sold to demands fluency not
only in Russian but also in the local Languages for example Lithuanian, Latvian, Ukrainian
etc.
BUSINESS ACTIVITIES
Naturan's products are modern, environmentally friendly, chemical and biochemical based
formulations for sale to the human health, hygiene and animal husbandry markets. Prior to
sale, these products require local registration often necessitating field trials and
lengthy communications with various authorities. Naturan's technical specialists provide
assistance with this including translation of data into local languages so that
registrations can be achieved in an efficient and timely manner.
Also necessary for distributing this type of product are pharmaceutical and veterinary
wholesaling licences held by Naturan and its local sales branches in Poland. This enables the organisation to offer comprehensive
distribution of medicinal products from local stocks.
HUMAN HEALTH AND HYGIENE
Naturan is active in the distribution of hygiene products for hospitals and food
processing factories. It aims to provide a broad spectrum of products starting with
diagnostic tests for detection of bacterial infections (e.g. salmonella), and mycotoxins
(tests from Vicam, USA and Nasco USA) following through to a programme of sanitising
products and its top selling disinfectant — VIRKON — for which it holds the
manufacturing licence and distributorship from Antec
International (UK). Scientific and technical promotion for Human Health markets in
Poland, Russia and other former Comecon countries is handled from Warsaw where
multilingual translation of technical information takes place and from where seminars,
external training programmes and advertising are co-ordinated.
ANIMAL HEALTH
Here Naturan concentrates on the Poultry and Pig market in Poland and the Baltic
Countries with a broad range of products aimed at improving the economics of production as
well as protecting the health of the worker and consumer. Naturan supplies Vicam
diagnostic tests for mycotoxin contamination of feed stuffs as well as feed additives
(products distributed for Optivite UK) to treat and prevent such
contamination efficiently and enhance the feed quality. Naturan's infection prevention
programme continues with cleaning and disinfection (products from Antec International UK
especially Virkon and FarmFluid S disinfectants). Thereafter it provides
medical products, e.g. de-wormers. Qualified vets are employed by
Naturan to co-ordinate all of the training and promotional programmes required to sell
successfully into the Animal Health market.
DISTRIBUTOR ACTIVITY
Naturan is continuously seeking new and complementary distributorships for products and
services which fit into its market segments. Exclusivity for the whole region is
preferred but specific country representation can be considered, especially Poland where the company has wholly owned establishments and stockpoints.
